Lets Go! 100 Islands in 100 Minutes!
Discover the natural beauty of a little known expanse of protected islands on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. Only an hour from Halifax, the Wild Islands archipelago, (750+ islands) stretches for over 100 kilometres and offers you an opportunity to immerse yourself in the vast natural settings that are (mostly) as Samuel de Champlain found them when charting these islands in 1607.
This ecologically rich expanse of islands include boreal rain forests, bogs, barrens, white sand beaches, sheltered coves and windswept headlands as well as a rich diversity of wildlife.
Join Ryan aboard the ‘Sea Warrior’ as you pack in as many sights, sounds and islands as possible in a stunning 2-hour private excursion. You will learn about the history and topography of the area, jump off for a short walk on the beach and try to view some of the birds and animals that find refuge on these islands.
The wind and waves of the day may affect our exact route, but sites may include; Ship Rock Island, named after a sheer rock cliff that resembles the sail of a schooner, rumoured to have been used for cannon target practice in the 19th and 20th centuries; and Borgles Island known for its double crescent white sand beach. The Wild Islands are an outdoor adventurers dream!
This private tour is faster-paced than our leisurely scenic boat tours aboard ‘Murphy’s Legacy’ and will allow passengers the ability to see over 100 islands within the 2-hour tour duration. And we’ll even have time to hop off on an island for a short walk. Sound impossible? It’s not even difficult. There are 100 islands within ~5 km of our wharf! The map highlights the density and distribution of these islands. The red dots indicate the largest islands. The star indicates where Murphy’s Camping on the Ocean is located. There are 21 islands within a two kilometre radius of Murphy’s, 92 islands within a five kilometre radius and 185 islands within ten kilometres. It’s no wonder kayaking and boating here is so enjoyable!
Your captain, Ryan
I’m a 7th generation Murphy to live and work in Murphy Cove. This Nova Scotia coastal community has a history of fishing, boat building, blacksmithing and rum running.
with Ship Rock in the distance
I spent years exploring, hiking, camping, fishing and swimming in and around the incredible archipelago now known as the Wild Islands. I am an active participant in the stewardship to conserve this unique and pristine area, acting as a property guardian for a few of the Wild Islands and I am the Chairperson for the Wild Islands Tourism Advancement Partnership, which is a community led group looking to develop the area into a world class, internationally recognized, sustainable tourism destination. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and introducing them to the natural wonders of the Wild Islands Coast.
Important Note: The 100 Islands, 100 Minutes Adventure Tour is designed for and best suited for 2 adults. Adding additional adults or children may require that the tour be altered. For example, we may need to take a different route to limit the open water crossings and adjust the hiking portion of the tour to remain within the 2 hour tour duration.
