How far is your campground from Halifax, Nova Scotia?
We are located approximately 80 km from Halifax/Dartmouth, along the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. The drive will take approximately 1 hour.
When do you open and close for the season?
Our season is May 15th to October 15th.
What are the campground’s hours of operation?
Our office is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm daily.

When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in time is 2 pm and our office closes around 8 pm. Check-out time is 11 am. Arriving earlier and staying a little bit later (especially between Sunday to Thursday) is often not a problem, but please check with the office first.

How far in advance should I make a reservation?
We accept reservations up to 18 months in advance. Popular weekends and sites may book up very early so the sooner you reserve, the better chance you have to get your preferred site.
Does your campground allow dogs?
Yes, we allow pets as long as you keep them under your control at all times and clean up after them.
Can our dog stay in the rental trailer?
No, many people are allergic to pet dander so we are very firm about not allowing pets in any of the rental units.
Can I take my dog on the scenic boat tour?
No, pets are not allowed on our boat tours.
Do the campsites have fire pits and picnic tables?
Yes, all of our campsites have fire pits and picnic tables. We also have cooking grills available free of charge at the office.
Can we put more than one tent on a campsite?
Yes, but you must check with the office first to ensure your campsite can accommodate your equipment. Your equipment must not be in the way for other campsites or pathways and any additional person fees must be paid accordingly.
Can we have more than one vehicle on our campsite?
No, but there is parking available near the office. Additional parking fees will apply. If you also have an additional tent on your campsite, you will be required to pay for an additional site.
Can I reserve a serviced site with just a tent?
Yes, we have several campsites which are suitable for tents requiring electricity.
Do the RV sites have sewer hookup?
No, but we do have a dump station which is available for free use on any stay in a serviced site.
Can I access wireless internet from my campsite?
Most of our campsites are within range of the access point. However, if you cannot access the internet from your campsite, our recreation hall has a wireless access point inside.
When is quiet time?
Quiet time starts at 11 pm and ends at 10 am. This means that there must not be any loud noises during this time including excessive yelling, laughter, or music. You are permitted to continue your campfire after 11 pm as long as noise levels are kept to a minimum. However, our communal campfire often goes beyond 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights so we encourage you to join us at this location. Very little noise radiates from the communal campfire area due to its location and surrounding terrain.
Are alcohol, cannabis, vaping, and/or cigarettes permitted?
Yes, we have an open policy. However, other guests and our employees must not be disturbed or bothered in any way. (This includes smell, smoke, loud noises, loud music, swearing, etc…) Smoking and vaping are not permitted in any buildings (e.g. Office, Washrooms, Sailors’ Rest, Traphouse, etc…) Aggressive and/or disruptive behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated and the police will be called if necessary.
Is there an age restriction for making a reservation?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years of age with a valid credit card to make a reservation and you cannot make a reservation for someone who is underage.
Is there a swimming pool?
No, we do not have a swimming pool, but we do have the Atlantic ocean.
When are the scenic boat tours scheduled?
Typical scenic boat tours will depart at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. However, these times may vary so please check at the office for more accurate times.
Can I bring my boat?
Yes, we encourage boating and kayaking. If you are staying at the campground, you may use the marina facilities at no extra charge. We ask that you park your boat trailer in the parking area near the office. Do not leave your trailer parked on or near the boat launch area.
Can we book a boat tour in advance?
Yes, but keep in mind that the boat tours are weather dependent and may need to be rescheduled or cancelled.
Can you host our wedding, birthday party, club meeting, etc…? Do you offer group discounts?

Do you have gift certificates?
Yes, gift certificates are available online. We offer gift certificates for both camping and ocean experiences as well as custom dollar amounts.
Are there any rules or regulations I need to be aware of before arriving at the campground?
Yes, every guest and visitor staying with us and on the campground property agrees to abide by all rules and policies of Murphy’s Camping on the Ocean.
